There’s just under one month to go until the big day, and as the weather outside gets a little bit frightful you’re going to need to seriously up that playlist game to counteract any lulls in motivation. It’s time to stick these Christmas anthems on repeat and head outside into the great British winter for one heck of a festive workout…
Slade – Merry Xmas Everyone
What better way to kick off Christmas workout season than with this all time classic from Slade. If anything’ll get you psyched up for the exercise that lies ahead it’s Noddy Holder yelling “it’s Christmaaaas!”
Mariah Carey – All I Want for Christmas Is You
Love her or hate her, you can’t escape this song around Christmas time in the UK, and whilst we don’t care to admit it, this track has a momentum and an energy about it that works wonders on our wintertime motivation. If you can’t beat ‘em and all that…
Jose Feliciano – Feliz Navidaz
If your understanding of Spanish is anything like ours then you wont have the faintest idea what Jose is actually singing in this song (aside from the obvious), but this old school Puerto-Rican Crimbo anthem still manages to give us all those Christmas feels for a full-on festive boost.
Cascada – Last Christmas
We know, it’s not a patch on the original version, but this upbeat remix of the Wham classic is the ideal tempo for some of the more intense winter workouts. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it…
Bruce Springsteen – Santa Claus Is Coming to Town
Another alternative take on a Christmas classic, this time featuring Bruce Springsteen and his E Street band. This husky, driven, big band banger from The Boss will have you feeling all kinds of motivated on your Christmastime jogs – almost like you were…born to run. Sorry.
Wizard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day
We’re sure you’re all familiar with this one, and there’s no real need to dissect the motivational qualities of screaming saxophone solos and an exceptionally Brummie children’s choir shouting “I wish it could be Christmas every day”. An absolute must for the more challenging stages of your exercise regime.
RUN DMC – Christmas In Hollis
One of the lesser known holiday tunes, this is just as high-energy and pumping as you’d expect from the RUN DMC boys and a definite mainstay on the BuaFit Christmas playlist. A number that’s perhaps more suited to your Boxercise session than your rooftop Yoga class.
The Pogues – Fairy Tale of New York
We couldn’t make a Christmas playlist and not include this one, right? Whether it’s the soundtrack to the walk back after a run, the cool down after your rooftop circuit class, or your post-exercise stretches; this tune from The Pogues makes for the ideal, relaxing end to any Christmassy workout.
