10 Yummy snacks that will help you have a healthy workday

No matter where you work (from home, the office, or your fave coffee shop…), getting from breakfast to lunch and lunch to dinner without noshing in between is hard.

We don’t need to skip snacking altogether, especially since enjoying a midday bite is great for your metabolism (and your mental health), so set yourself up for success with a healthier, homemade option. Whether it’s salty, sweet, or crunchy – there’s plenty yummy healthy snacks to help curb your hanger and help you get through whatever your day throws at you!

Try some of these yummy snacks:

  1. Coconut water blueberry Smoothie

1 cup blueberries, Tbs Greek or coconut yoghurt, 1.5 cups coconut water, 1 cup spinach, chia seeds or ground flax 

  • Cottage cheese mix

Cottage cheese mixes well with chopped bananas, peaches, apples, berries, nuts, and chia seeds to make tasty, sweet treats. Cinnamon is a great addition! You can also take the savoury route by adding vegetables of choice sprinkled with black pepper and chopped chives. 

  • Corn thins with almond spread

Spread almond butter across corn thins slices, then layer on some banana, dates and finally top with some hemp seeds.

  • Chopped raw veggies such as carrot, celery, capsicum, broccoli, or snap peas with 1 Tbs. Hummus

Humus is a truly healthy snack, combining a trifecta of protein, fibre, and healthy fats. Veggies make an awesome snack to dip into hummus. Be sure to use crunchy veggies though!

  • ½ cup of berries with 1 Tbs. Greek Yoghurt

Greek yoghurt and blueberries make an awesome snack – Blueberries are one of the healthiest foods you can eat – they are loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, and fibre. 

  • Green Smoothie 

X2 stalks of celery, ½ lemon squeezed, ½ small cucumber, 1.5 cups of spinach, add fresh ginger and ½ apple or pear.

  • Hard-boiled Egg

Simple and easy snack form home! Full of high-quality protein, with 2 large eggs providing 13 grams. If you want a satisfying snack to tide you over between meals, you’ll want to eat one that’s protein rich. 

  • Popcorn – Kettle Corn

Kettle corn is popcorn that is topped with sugar and salt. The combination makes for an addictively sweet, high fibre treat that’s perfect for movie night, an afternoon sugar craving, or on the snack table at your next picnic or BBQ

  • Steamed Edamame

Simple, steamed edamame is an amazing snack that is nutritious and comes together quickly

  1. Small bunch of nuts – cashews, almonds and a few Brazil nuts 

The easy go-to snack that will keep you going! Careful not to load up on them though as they are calorific.
