Yes, we know. It’s cold. But on the plus side it’s not an ice rink outside, and it hasn’t been snowing, so that’s a bonus!

According to the American Heart Association, winter workouts outside in the fresh air are a great way to take in small doses of sunlight, which can help to improve mood and help with getting your daily dose of vitamin D. Winter exercise boosts immunity during the dreaded cold and flu season. A few minutes a day can help prevent simple bacterial and viral infections, according to the CDC.

Dr. Tenforde explains that ‘in colder temperatures your heart doesn’t have to work as hard, you sweat less, and expend less energy, all of which means you can exercise more efficiently.’

That feeling when freezing cold, but your body is acting as a little furnace and keeping you nice and toasty – nothing beats it!
