As we wave goodbye to this year’s uncharacteristically hot London summer and make our way in to the Autumn months, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s time to roll up that yoga mat and head for the nearest gym. However, there are still plenty of benefits for both you and your clients when it comes to hosting those sessions in the great outdoors. Here are five of them:
The Feel Good Factor…
Nothing quite beats that rush of getting the blood pumping in beautiful surroundings, and lucky for us London is in abundance. Studies have shown that just five minutes of walking in green space is enough to reduce stress and increase your motivation to stay active – just think of what a whole workout can do.
Less Cancellations…
Cancellations are a part of every day life, especially when one’s job relies on the motivation and perseverance of others. The good news is that research shows attendance rates for outdoor classes to be much better than those indoors, with more space and less stress cited as two of the main reasons. Many of your clients will be new to the outdoor workout game, and a stimulating, memorable session in the beautiful surroundings of the big smoke will leave your trainees far too excited to cancel when the next session comes around.
A Breath of Fresh Air…
We mean this both literally and metaphorically. Humans thrive off variety and there’s no bigger workout mood killer than monotony and boredom. Taking your sessions to outdoor spaces offers clients something new, exciting and unpredictable – making the sessions more fun for everyone. What’s more, that recycled gym air is no match for the energy boosting properties of a real breath of fresh air…
You’re Probably Spending Too Much Time Indoors…
This last point is a little presumptuous, but if your clients are anything like the average Brit there’s a chance they’re spending too much of their time indoors. A recent study of UK office workers has found that almost 40% spend a maximum of just 15 minutes outside, excluding their commute to work, and an additional 22% spend a maximum of 30 minutes outside. Your PT sessions will be a great way to entice those worker bee types out of the office!
