Movement is literally in our make-up. Walking on two legs, known as bipedalism, makes us efficient movers with each forward motion mimicking a pendulum swing that propels us on. It requires very little muscular activity, unlike knuckle walking or quadrupedalism. As a bipedal species we are free to move more openly than animals with 4 legs. Our arms are free to use tools, stretch to grab fruit, and are on hand to communicate our feelings better. Yet, many of us ringfence movement and exercise – it’s a special activity at a special time of day, or even an activity we never seem to make time for. Georges Ngay-Katalay is an ABA boxing coach and lead coach at the Afewee Brixton Boxing Club and for Team Tieu. Any sort of combat sport is his bag. With so much teaching experience he’ll get you fitter and more powerful swiftly and with ease.
Tuesday 20th July – Dynamic Vinyasa Yoga Lunchtime Session – 13:30 – 14:30
60 mins on the Common putting your self-care first. Vinyasa is made up of powerful sequences and balances linked to your breath cycles. The patterns of inhalations and exhalations will invoke peace and the movements build strength and mobility.
Lucy Lock is an international yoga teacher having taught in India, Nepal, the Maldives, the Philippines, Guatemala, and California. Now firmly putting her roots down in London, she’s here to showcase what’s yoga hot the world over.

Barre thrives on small movements and pulsing. Its low impact nature will make you train longer and harder, and its results will be seen in its ability to tone and strengthen. A masterclass in mobility and movement.
Laughter is Grace Ker’s fave core exercise, followed by barre. This class is an all over body conditioner. Her classes are a mix of barre and dance which usually descend into a blissful kitchen party.

Reduce stress and anxiety and embrace a gentle flow sequence. A warm up for your body and soul that is perfect for a slow Sunday. Expect poses that are reclined and seated and be ready to thrive in Frederika’s peace.
